Dr. Kris Johnston, DACM, AGPC-NP, Dipl Ac, CH
Dr. Kris Johnston is drawn to Chinese Medicine because of its emphasis on the body’s natural process of healing. After recovering from a life-threatening event following the pregnancy of her twins, Kris was motivated to serve others as a healer. Through her personal experiences and years of study, Kris realized that alternative medicine could dramatically improve the lives of others.
Kris received her Doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. She is a graduate of the New York College of Health Professions, where she earned her Masters in Oriental Medicine and completed the certificate program for hypnosis. Kris received her nursing degree from the Adelphi Nursing Program and is currently enrolled in Adelphi’s nurse practitioner program. Kris is licensed by the State of New York to practice acupuncture and is also certified in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Psychiatry.
Kris has always had a passion for helping others. As a young girl she knew that a career helping people heal was in her future. The care and devotion she has to Natural Approach Healthcare are highly valued by her patients. Her motivation to learn, listen, and inform others is revealed through her endless hours of service and attention she provides to her patients.
Since founding Natural Approach Healthcare in 2007, Kris has had a profound impact on the lives of her patients. With treatments tailored to each individual patient, Kris has shown that alternative medicine is an important complement, or even substitute to western medicine. A meaningful patient experience for Kris was her interaction with a patient who had suffered with sores on her body for five years. Although the patient had met with numerous doctors, it was Kris’s Chinese Medicine treatments that finally healed her sores.
Kris gains inspiration from her brother-in-law, a local veterinarian who practices both eastern and western medicine on animals. When not at work, Kris values spending quality time with her family.
